Meet Sandvik at AMUG 2022

The technical conference of AMUG is fast approaching, and Sandvik Additive Manufacturing is one of this year’s platinum sponsors. Over the course of five days, engineers, designers, and educators from around the globe will come together to share expertise, challenges, and developments in the field of additive manufacturing (AM) – and we are excited to take part.

Sandvik has been driving the materials evolution for 160 years, with a near 50 years’ expertise in powder atomization. Fortified by our joint forces with BEAMIT Group, we have leading capabilities across the additive value chain – from metal powder to finished component.

Last year Sandvik and BEAMIT announced a unique capability to produce additively manufactured components in super-duplex stainless steel. Continuous progress has been made since then, with the latest news being the successful printing of a big size impeller – a 380 mm, 22 kg, super-duplex masterpiece. The impeller will, along with copper, titanium, and cobalt-chrome, be on display in the Sandvik booth.

At AMUG, we also invite you to join the one-hour session we will be hosting, featuring two presentations and – to wrap it all up – a Q&A. Dr. Eleonora Bettini, Senior R&D Engineer, Dr. Magnus Boström, Senior R&D Engineer and Dr. Paul A. Davies, Technical Solutions Manager have a jampacked session in store. The first presentation, Metal Powders and Cemented Carbide for Binder Jetting, will provide an update on the latest material developments in binder jetting, while introducing novel materials such as cemented (or tungsten) carbide – known for being both wear resistant and long lasting. The second presentation, Titanium and Cobalt-Chrome for Medical and Dental Applications, offers an overview of the range of gas-atomized, Osprey® metal powders suitable for medical and dental applications, focusing mainly on the titanium alloy Ti6Al4V and its potential. During this part of the session, we are delighted to also introduce Bertram Dental Lab – a leading producer of dental products who have adopted additive manufacturing to produce high-quality dental components. With these two presentations and the following Q&A, it is bound to be quite an eventful hour.

Another addition not to miss is the in-booth mini sessions being offered Monday through Wednesday. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to learn from and interact with our team of leading experts in materials and 3D printing during the brief presentations covering four well-renowned materials from our wide range of Osprey® metal powders: copper for Binder Jet printing, super-duplex stainless steel, cobalt-chromium customized for both Laser and Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion, and maraging steels such as our ultra-high hardness MAR-60HRC. Make sure to pen down the available times to your right – and add them to your calendar!
